Vancouver Physician Discusses Ultherapy® Non-Surgical Skin Tightening
Dr. Shehla Ebrahim provides Ultherapy® as a non-invasive facial rejuvenation procedure that uses ultrasound to treat skin laxity in the brows, neck, and chin.
Vancouver, BC—Traditional facelift procedures can call for complicated surgical operations with extended recovery periods and often uncomfortable side effects; however, some patients may require a much less invasive treatment to reduce the appearance of sagginess and loss of firmness along the face and jaw line, states Dr. Shehla Ebrahim, a Vancouver family physician with a special interest in Dermatology. One particular treatment, she notes, comes without the downtime associated with more invasive procedures. Dr. Ebrahim says Ultherapy®, an advanced non-surgical skin tightening technique, is a popular option at Afterglow Physician Directed Medical Aesthetics, her practice in Vancouver.
Ultherapy® is intended to work by focusing ultrasound energy on targeted facial areas. “The collagen in the skin responds to this energy by making new collagen,” explains Dr. Ebrahim. FDA-cleared for use in skin tightening and lifting procedures in the face and neck, Ultherapy®, also called Ulthera®, is a non-surgical method of tightening skin that is experiencing age-related inelasticity. In a recent blog post her practice’s website titled, “Discover the Long-Lasting Benefits of Ultherapy®,” Dr. Ebrahim identifies several advantages of Ultherapy®, including:
- Long-lasting effects
- Quick procedure
- No downtime
- Natural-looking results
- Works on most skin types
Side effects of the Ultherapy® procedure are minimal, and most patients can return to normal activity the same day, explains Dr. Ebrahim. She notes that some patients experience slight redness or minor swelling in treated areas for a few days following treatment.
In another blog entry drawing attention to a recently posted video on Ultherapy®, Dr. Ebrahim’s certified Ultherapy® and CoolSculpting™ details the process of Ultherapy® treatment. In addition to demonstrating how the cosmetic enhancement technique targets skin laxity, she also presents numerous before-and-after photos of patients.
The effects of Ultherapy® are often noticeable two-to-three months after initial therapy, and patients may continue to show improvement for up to six months, notes Dr. Ebrahim. She says a consultation and skin evaluation can determine if a patient is a candidate for the procedure. “It’s an excellent option for patients with mild to moderate [skin] laxity who aren’t ready for a surgical brow lift or facelift.”
