Mole Mapping Total Body Scanning for Early Skin Cancer Detection
Our experienced physician, Dr. Shehla Ebrahim, is pleased to announce the FIRST and only health centre on the North Shore to offer dermoscopy and Total Body Scanning with Mole Mapping.
Melanoma claims one person every hour in North America. Afterglow offers a non-invasive, highly accurate surveillance program for early detection and treatment of moles.
Dr. Ebrahim’s clinical diagnosis of melanoma is supported by two state-of-the-art diagnostic tools.
The first is dermoscopy, a sophisticated microscope for the evaluation of pigmented skin lesions. This device utilizes epiluminescence microscopy (ELM) to open a new dimension in the accurate examination of specific patterns, structures, and colours of skin lesions.
A recent dermatology study reported that diagnosis was 90% accurate with dermoscopy compared to 74% accurate with the naked eye.
The second tool is FotoFinder® Mole Mapping and Total Body Scanning. This technique can monitor changes in existing moles and identify newly developed areas of pigment. This technology is based on high-resolution photography integrated into an image database and software – please read more about Mole Mapping.
If you are concerned about moles or unusual areas of pigmentation, ask your family doctor or a walk-in clinic for a referral to Dr. Ebrahim. Contact us today for more information.
